The last weekend in February was all about cleaning & organizing the basement!!
We had Anna & Ruzz over the weekend before for some Rock Band fun & while we jammed out we started discussing St Patrick's Day. We LOVE St Patty's Day & thought it would be awesomeness to have a party! Nick & I hadn't had a party at our house for about a year & a half. The last one we had ended with puke on my couch & in my bed, holes punched in the walls, & a giganto mess! NOT fun times! So, we decided that we would NEVER have another keg but instead do the BYOB thing...people tend to drink less when they don't have 15.5 gallons of beer just sitting there waiting to be consumed!
Nick & I had some MAJOR cleaning to do in order to be ready for the party! We hadn't deep cleaned the basement since November 2006 I think?? Pretty bad! So, we ran some errands that Sat morning & early afternoon & then got down to business w/ the cleaning when we got back home...ok, so maybe I took a nap first...but I did get to it once I woke up. ;)
As you may know from one of my previous posts...we had an issue w/ the water backing up in our basement. The floor was super disgusting because of this! Nick had to use a putty knife to scrap stuff off the floor & then he used bleach water & a scrub brush broom to scrub everything down. To finish it off he used some Pine Sol & water to make it lemony fresh!! It looked SO MUCH better after that!
While Nick worked on the floor, I was on pop can duty! We keep saying that when we fill the shelf downstairs w/ cans that we will take them back...nope, doesn't happen. We had TONS of cans & bottles so I sorted through all of them & put them in boxes & counted them & all that. I have to say that it is pretty gross sorting through old ass cans & bottles...especially when people decide to put cigarette butts in them. :-Z
After our individual projects were done we started on Nick's "man" room. It was very cluttered & dirty...just an all around mess! We first threw what we could away & then started transporting everything out of the room so that we could get the carpet up. When we first moved into the house there was ugly blue carpet upstairs. We are lucky enough to have a VERY generous aunt...Auntie...who paid for new carpet as a house warming gift! (Thanks a million!! :) Nick decided to take the crap carpet downstairs to use in his room. So, the carpet wasn't tacked down or anything. All we had to do was cut it into small enough pieces where we could carry it outside. By about 3:30AM we had the carpet out & the furniture dusted & arranged!! It looked great!! We were pretty proud of ourselves! :D
We must of had an ambitious weekend cuz we actually woke up for church the next day & then took cans/bottles back...took us close to 3 hours & it ended w/ us putting about $65.00 in our pockets!! Woo Hoo!
Nick spent the next couple of weeks hooking up the electronics, setting all his stuff up in his room, & finishing the rest of the basement! It looked AWESOME by the time the party rolled around...which I'll post on later! I actually like hangin downstairs now!! :D
