A Little Bit of This...A Little Bit of That

I had a busy busy weekend a few weeks ago! Well, all except for Fri. On Fri I sat at home w/ my two cats & watched TV & movies until about 2:00 AM. It's sad, I know, but it had been a really stressful week at work & I really wasn't feeling up for much of anything. Nick was off at a birthday party for Charlotte, a friend of ours.

That Sat, Nick & I went to Dillards to check out some possible bridesmaid dresses that Teresa had found. Teresa gets a gazillion gold stars cuz they are PERFECT! ~I LOVE them!!~ (If you want to hear the whole story check out my The Knot blog!)

After we left Dillards it was off to Steph & Booter's new house in E-Dale. They had already moved everything into their garage but they still needed help moving everything from the garage to the house. (Which is way-> cute BTW!) They also have this adorable little playhouse/swing set for Ashton & Lexie. Nick had to try out the slide! (I'm pretty sure he's jealous! ;)

That night was the first Black Hawks home game of the year!! Nick & I got there a little early to get FREE Black Hawk magnet schedules & to find out where our seats are located. They are really good seats in my opinion! We are just high enough to be able to look over the glass & there is only a small blindspot off to the left. Other then that we can see the whole rink. So, we drank some cold beers & watched the Black Hawks kick Omaha's ass!! Fun times!!






After the game we headed over to Spicoli's to hang w/ our friend Kandis. It was her b-day!! My BFF Bridge met us there too since she was in town for the night. Spicoli's is a super nice bar. I've been there before when it was Broosters, back in the day, & then when it was Crazy Suckers. It's always looked the same but I think because of where it is located, which is pretty much off in a corner, it's hard to get business. I bet it will do well now that it's the "new Reverb".

We ended up back @ Steph's after Spicoli's. There were some photo albums lying around so we decided to take a trip down memory lane. Wow, it was hilarious!! They brought back a lot of good memories though! **Sidewalk Sisters Forever!!**

The next day Nick & I drove down to Meskwaki in Tama to check out a bridal show. Waste...of...time..... We wandered around for about a half hour, lost $4 on the slots, & then left. On the way home I got a call from Teresa. The bridesmaid dresses were 40% off & the sale ended that day!! 40% OFF!! So, I went to Dillards when we got back into town to order all the dresses. That evening I went out to my mama's for dinner! Chicken Enchiladas!! Drool! (Needless to say I was fat & happy when I went to bed that night!) Ashton & Lexie were there so we colored & wrestled & played w/ batman & power ranger figurines. I was batman & my name was Steve. I liked long walks on the beach & cocktails. I also liked my spandex tights! They were THUPER!! I've probably scarred Ashton for life but I couldn't help it!! My mom & I were practically crying cuz we were laughing so hard!! We had a THUPER time!! ;)

Wow! Have I been a slacker!! It's been almost 3 weeks since my last post!! Naughty! Naughty! I'm slapping myself on the wrist at this very moment...not really but I will later...ok, no I won't but whatever! ;) Ok, let's go back in time & see what the hecks been going down.....

Friday the 10th marked 1 Year Until Our Wedding!! We ended up going out for dinner at Jack & Arnie's w/ Grant, Ryan, & Brandon (a friend of ours...not my brother...or Anna's boyfriend...God, there are a lot of Brandons!). So anyways, we grilled up some super yummy steaks & made some baked potatoes & texas toast! Yummmmmm! Way-> good! I want some right now!! We also had a few drinks & chilled! It was a good night!

The following Sat was our dress shopping day! We went to An Elegant Affair by Amy, Now & Forever Bridal, & Bridal Design. I found a few that I liked but none that really stood out from the others. We also found a few bridesmaid dresses that everyone seemed to like but, like my wedding gown, we didn't find anything that "stood out". We were going to check out A Bride's Corner in downtown Waterloo but after stuffing ourselves at Becks for lunch we were pretty sluggish & were too lazy to go to one more bridal shop. We had a good time though & it was nice to spend the day w/ all my girls!! (Quick Note: I was going to upload pics on to my The Knot blog but I'm having trouble. For some reason it doesn't want to work?? I'm going to try one more time & if it doesn't work I'll prolly just end up putting them on here. Stay tuned.....)

That night Nick, Anna, Anna's b/f Brandon, Chelsie, her b/f Mike, John, Willy, & I made our way to Evansdale to check out some haunts! We went to Harris Haven Funeral Home first & my radio station was there so I got to thank them for my Black Hawk season tickets! Anna & I got free t-shirts & our picture taken w/ the morning show DJs, JC & Chase! (I was hoping that they would put the picture up on their website but I haven't seen it. We were prolly to scary! ;) I had fun just watching people exiting the haunted house. There were 2 guys w/ chainsaws & if you ran from them they would chase you. So, we would all be hanging out & then all of a sudden you'd hear a chainsaw, then screaming, then you'd see someone running like hell across the field w/ the creepy chainsaw guy behind them! It was hilarious!! :D After Harris Haven we went to the Waterhawks Haunted Hayride. Nick, Anna, & I were the only ones that actually went on it. Everyone else just hung out in Nick's blazer. Big babies!!

That Sun was a lazy day. Anna & I woke up late & just sat on our asses until about 5:00 when we finally took showers & got ready for the Five Finger Death Punch concert! Nick, Anna, & I rode w/ Jay & Lindsey the whole two minutes to Electric Park Ballroom. (I suggested we walk but then we wouldn't have had as much time to drink! Beer is good!) Another Black Day opened & then Bury Your Dead played. They were pretty cool but In This Moment was still my favorite!! I can't wait to go to a concert where they are the headliners!! Maria, the lead singer, has such an amazing voice! Plus, that girl can scream!! It's crazy!! I bought an In This Moment t-shirt so that I can represent!! (Hee Hee!) :P Five Finger Death Punch was last & I kinda liked them. The lead singer was pretty hot so even if they would have sucked at least there would have been something to look at! I wanted to hang around after the concert so that I could meet In This Moment again but Nick had to get up for work the next day so we left around 11:00. I took half a day off the next day so that I could sleep in! That was lovely!!

Professional Couch Potato

I've been meaning to write a post about the fun times I had last weekend but I honestly have just been REALLY lazy this week! I think I'm addicted to cable! :Z My name is Sarah...& I'm a cableholic. There, I admitted it! Isn't that the first step in conquering my addiction?? ;) Anyways, back to my weekend.....

Nick & I had some lunch w/ my family at the Cornerstone Sat morning. (Mmmmm...grilled cheese & fries! :) We then went to Nick's uncle's retirement party at Becks. He just retired from the Waterloo Fire Department! I bet he has seen some amazing...both good & bad..things during his time w/ some of Waterloo's bravest! We got to visit w/ some of Nick's family that we don't get to see very often & hang out w/ some of the cute-as-a-bug little ones! The only negative moment during our time at Beck's was when the Hawkeyes lost! *Tear* We're all big Hawkeye fans, as u can tell by the pics below, so it was a bummer. :(





My 2nd mom (aka my mom's twin, aka Auntie) & her boyfriend Joe camp at Hickory Hills every other weekend during the summer months & this last weekend was the last time they were camping this year so Nick & I drove on down to visit. The weather was awesome! Perfect for a bonfire! We ate some delish food & drank a few to many adult beverages...or, in Auntie's case...Sparks! (Right Auntie!?!) She liked those Sparks! Good stuff! ;)







My brother Jerod's girlfriend Ally just turned 18 on Mon so her mom rented one of the cabin's at Hickory Hills Sat night to celebrate. After dinner we all wandered from Auntie & Joe's camp sight over to the cabin to help celebrate. (BONUS! Birthday Cake!! ;) We had to stop by the park on the way. Ashton & Lexie had a great time! I wish that I could have even an ounce of their energy!!










I have another busy weekend ahead. Sat is dress shopping w/ mom, Auntie, Nana, Anna, & the rest of my bridesmaids w/ the exception of Bridge cuz she's busy working at her uncle's pumpkin patch! (Busy busy girl!) Then, Sat night we plan on hitting up some haunted houses! BOO!! :-O SCARY! ;) On Sun we are going to the Five Finger Death Punch, In This Moment, Bury Your Dead concert! I really have no idea who Five Finger Death Punch & Bury Your Dead are but I LOVE In This Moment!! I first saw them at Ozzfest last year & instantly loved them! I even got to meet them & have them sign their album! SWEET! I'm pretty excited if you haven't already noticed! So anywho, hopefully I don't get trampled by a mosh pit & am able to post lots of pics next week! Wish me luck! ;)
