Monkeying Around!

Sat morning, Nick & I went w/ his family down to Des Moines to the Blank Park Zoo! We had a really good time! (I haven't been to a zoo in probably 15 years!) They had a lot of adorable animals & I took A TON of pictures! (Big surprise right!?!) My favorites were the sea horses, the jellyfish, & the giraffes! I also liked the monkeys! Little G sure had some fun! He was running around like a crazy boy checking everything out! Nick had him up on his shoulders so I told him that he was tall like a giraffe so he then said to Nick's sister, "Mom! I'm giraffein Nick!". We got a good laugh out of that one! :D

It was also Nick's step-dad Gary's birthday! His daughter Amy was going to move up to Alaska but later decided to just go up & visit a friend instead. No one told Gary this so she showed up at the zoo to surprise him! He had no idea & I'm sure it made his day!

There was also a concert going on at the zoo which was free w/ your zoo admission. It was Billy Currington who, I guess, is a popular country singer but I honestly had never heard of him before. It was all good though! We just hung out on the grass & chilled. It was hot in that afternoon sun! Nick & I had to buy a couple cold ones to cool us down! ;)

I WON!!

I won season tickets to the Waterloo Black Hawks from Q92.3!! I'm half asleep right now because they called me just before 7:00 this morning to tell me that I had won!! :D I was the 9th caller last Monday after they played the "sounder". I was then put in the drawing to win & I actually won!! I'm WAY excited! I LOVE going to their games! It's always a fun time!

Busy Busy Bee!

I've had a pretty busy week but it has defiantly been a FUN one!!

Last Thursday was Anna's Homecoming Powder Puff football game! I went w/ mom, dad, Diane, & Brandon. All I have to say is that I'm glad I'm not in high school anymore! Damn! Those girls are vicious! It was suppose to be flag football but I saw plenty of tackling & shoving out there! Anna even got a flag called on her because she picked up some girl & then dropped her!! Holy wow! It reminded me of the movie Mean Girls when Lindsay Lohan's character imagined everyone acting like wild animals & attacking each other! Crazy! Anyways, the seniors were defeated so my sister & her classmates weren't too happy! Oh well, at least they all looked cute in their matching t-shirts! ;)

Friday night was the Cornerstone's 1 year anniversary celebration. (Cornerstone is a small bar that Darwin, my mom's boyfriend, has owned for a year...hence the 1 year anniversary celebration.) They had drink specials & snack food. I was SO-> full by the end of the night!

Saturday morning Nick & I met up w/ my friends/co-workers Holly & Beth & Holly's boyfriend, aka Nick's boss, Nathan. We had to make a 4 hour drive to western Iowa for Mike's wedding. (Mike is another friend/co-worker.) We had some trouble getting going on time because we had to stop by Walmart & grab some adult beverages & at A&W to get some lunch. We were suppose to leave about 11:00 but didn't actually get on the road until 12:30...oops. (Hee hee!) We found everything pretty well for the most part which was good because we got to the wedding at 4:00 on the dot. Mike & Ashley must be very prompt people because they were already up at the altar!! We snuck in & sat down w/out making a scene. (Thank God for carpet!! It would have been difficult to sneak in w/ high heels on a hard surface!) The wedding was beautiful & the person who sang was awesome! (Usually you go to a wedding & it's awkward because the person who is singing really can't sing all that well & you just kinda feel sorry for them. Well, this defiantly wasn't the case at their wedding!)

After the ceremony we headed to the reception. I really liked all their decorations & plan on stealing some of their ideas for my own wedding! (Shhhhhhh...don't tell!! ;) We had a blast & the food was yummy! All in all it was one of the best weddings I've been to!

Sunday morning we all woke up feeling relatively well. (No major hangovers!!) We were all flippin hungry though & had a hell of a time finding food! We stopped in this town called Cherokee & the only place we found to eat was Subway. Everything was closed! I know it was a Sunday but come on! People have to eat on Sundays too!! :D

(We passed hundreds of these windmills on our trip to the wedding. I don't know what it is about them but they just give me this peaceful yet eerie sort of feeling...it's the strangest thing.)

Nick & I decided to stop by my mom's for a visit when we got back. She was watching Ashton & Lexie so we got to play w/ PLAYDOE! Good times!

Well, I have a very busy weekend coming up so I will have plenty to share next week!! The Carrie Underwood concert is almost here!! YIPPY! I also get to go to the Des Moines zoo w/ Nick's family! I'm SUPER excited!! :D
