Valentines Day 2009...SUCKED! Let me tell you why.....
Most of the day was fine. We just hung around the house until about 6:00 when we went to Allen to visit Nick's step-grandpa Will. He had almost DIED a week before! He hadn't been feeling well & couldn't keep anything down. He felt SO bad & was having horrible stomach pains so he went to the hospital. It was a good thing too because he would have died if had waited any longer! It turns out that he had a hernia that was intertwined w/ some scar tissue that was left over from when he had his appendix out in his 20s. The hernia & scar tissue was also intertwined w/ his intestines! They had to open him up to even figure out what was wrong! Anyhoo, it all went smoothly & he is doing just fine now.
So, after we visited Will we headed to a hockey game. They were playing their rivals, the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders! (Grrrrrrrrr!!) We were running behind so we parked over my John Deere & the new apartment buildings. People were parked ALL OVER the place & young arena was PACKED! The 1st craptastic thing to happen that night was the Black Hawks loss! Stupid Rough Riders! So, we left the game feeling bummed. We were planning to go to the Isle & meet up w/ Steph & Booter. Well, we walked over to where we parked &...ready for craptastic thing #2...NO CAR!! My first thought was that it had been stolen but then we soon realized that we had parked in front of a back alleyway to the apartments! So, we walked our cold asses back up to the arena & tried to find out what towing company may have taken it. The arena employees were no help. They said that they could give us a phone book & we could call around to the towing companies in the area...right. On our way out Nick asked one of the cops if they knew who might have towed it. He did some searching & found out that someone from the apartments had called to have it towed & it was done by Ray Mount Wrecker Service. So, Nick called them & they said that we wouldn't be able to pick it up until the next morning as long as we called by 9:00. Luckily, Brandon & Brice had gone to the game too so I called Brandon & he said that he would take us home. On the way home is when craptastic thing #3 happened...Brandon's pop spilled all over me. Lovely. Nick & I ended up sitting at home on Valentine's night & played Rock Band like losers. At least we came up w/ a good band name based on our crappy night...No Luck Chuck! ;)

The next morning we got up @ 8:30 & called the towing peeps to see when I could get my car. They said that they would meet us there & also told us how much it would cost...are you ready for this...$150.00!! I about crapped myself! $150.00 to tow it a few blocks & keep it for about 12 hours! It took everything I had to not punch those scam artist in the face! I understand that they have to make a living too but seriously!! SERIOUSLY!! My blood is boiling just thinking about it. I just don't understand WHY the person at the apartment building would call in the 1st place! It was 7:00 at night...no one would be using the damn alleyway anyways! Plus, probably about half the people parked around there were parked illegally considering the parking situation is atrocious! And then to end up having to shell out $150 just because someone wanted to be an asshole!! It's VERY frustrating!! :-Z
