Birthdays & Frozen Pipes!

WOW! WAY behind on my blog!! I'm working on getting it caught up!

So, here is a random picture from one Fri night that I went out w/ Alyssa. It was so flippin cold that we thought we might freeze solid! This is "frozen" Alyssa! :D

We met up w/ Nick & Chad at the Pump Haus later that night & then headed over to the Landmark. Alyssa was feeling no pain & it was kinda funny following her drunk butt around! (I was the DD so I had to behave.)

(Well....I kinda behaved. ;)

The following Sun was the Wedding Extravaganza @ Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center & Teresa's b-day dinner. After church we met up w/ Anna @ College Square mall to get Teresa a present & ended up stopping by Icings going out of business sale! 75% OFF!! I got a sweet purse for $9.00 & I've gotten SO MANY compliments on it!! Anways, after our bargain shopping, Anna & I headed to the bridal show. We weren't there for very long but I did get a few ideas for invitations.

Nick & I went over to Teresa & Gary's that evening for the b-day dinner. We were celebrating Teresa's b-day but Nick got an early b-day present...Guitar Hero!!

(Look at my pretty wrapping job!)

(We got her some burnable DVDs for her to use w/ her new DVD burner that we got her for Christmas.)

(Little G had to help!)

(We also got her a UNI sweatshirt.)

(Little G had to help Nick too!)

The 21st was Darwin's big 5-0!! We went out for dinner @ Lone Star where he got serenaded by the Lone Star crew & a b-day sundae!!

(Darwin's parents, Norb & Marcy.)

(I'm thinking Auntie was enjoying her margarita!)

(Birthday Sundae!! It was GOOD!)

(HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!)

The next day we went over to Brandon's since mom hadn't seen his duplex yet. Mom made Chili & Anna made Darwin some b-day cupcakes! We watched Righteous Kill w/ Robert Deniro & Al Pacino. Didn't much like it. I think it's kind of a disappointment considering the A listers that star in it!

That Fri night was Darwin's "surprise" b-day party! He didn't know what was going on for sure but he kind of new something was planned. I guess some dude at the bar had mentioned something about seeing him at the party Fri night. So, anyways, it wasn't a complete surprise but it was still fun! We had it at Cornerstone naturally. My mom got a cake & made some yum yum food! They also decorated with the customary black decor! Everyone had a super time...especially Darwin. There was no shortage of shots for him that night!!

(He's an old fart now!)

(Nice Ashton...he's a nerd!)

(First shot of the evening...many more to come!)

(Auntie & Georgia)

(Awwwwww....so CUTE!)

(It's DART TIME!)

(More shots!!)

(I LOVE my Auntie!!)

(So...Anna thought it would be super fun to SPIT on some confetti & stick it to my face...doesn't it look like fun!?!)

(Yippy for black frosting!)

(Lexie would only eat the frosting & leave the cake!)

(Dad, dad's sister Janice, & Diane)

(Mom, Darwin, Darwin's sister Diane, & Ashton...being a pouty-face!)

(Me & "my twin".)

(Don't hurt yourself Brandon!)

(Bethany's friends.)

(Besties!)

(Party on!)

(Me madre! Love her lots!)

(Lookin for some wheels!)

(Who knows??)

(Awwww...I can feel the love!)

(We had fun times!)

Nick & I got home before 2:00AM but decided to stay up until about 3:00 playing Guitar Hero!! That game is probably about as addicting as Twilight!

Anyways, I woke up about 9:30 on Sat morning to frozen pipes! Not cool! Dad stopped by later that day to see if we could find out where the water may have frozen. We came to the conclusion that it wasn't inside the house...oh no....it was under the ground! Awesomeness! So, I called around to different plumbers in the area & talked to the water works guy a few times. It wasn't looking good. First off, it was a Sat so if we had anyone come out then we would have been charged more. Secondly, if we waited too long then there was a chance that the pipe would break which would cost a crap load! Thirdly, there isn't any plumbers in the area that know how to unfreeze pipes except for one! Fourthly, we have galvanized pipe so it corrodes & can be an issue when trying to unfreeze it. The worst case scenario would have been that the pipes would not have thawd & then we would of had to either wait for it to thaw on it's own or piggyback off a neighbor which means hooking a hose up to the neighbors outside faucet & then connecting the other end to a faucet in our basement! Not good when it's below zero outside!! So, we ran over to Chad & Erica's & got a couple buckets of water so that we could flush the toilet. We planned to go out to my mom's that night to stay & shower but Nick wanted to go to the hockey game so Lucas came over to go w/ him & his flippin truck died right in front of the garage...where my car happened to be. SO, they went to the game & my stinky ass stayed home.

The next morning we were going to head out to mom's but then my angel of a brother, the plumber, came over to try & fix the pipe! It was a long shot but after blowing up the shop vac, flooding the neighbor's porch, & a trip to every hardware store in Waterloo we had RUNNING WATER!! You don't even know how happy I was to see nasty orange water squirting out of the side of my basement wall! I LOVE my brother!! He totally saved us! Thank you Jesus!! :D

Well, our fun was NOT over yet! The drain in the basement decided to back up. Usually, if it backs up it eventually drains...slowly...but this time it wasn't draining AT ALL! Nick had to rent an auger & our neighbor Terry came over & they auggered it out. Thank God it worked! I could finally take a shower & do laundry w/out turning my basement into a lake!! Grrrrrrrrr! Oh the joys of being a home owner!!
