White Christmas

Snow is not a word I'm unfamiliar w/. I've lived in Iowa all my life so I've seen plenty of it. Although it can be a pain in the ass most of the time, I am thankful for it at least one day a year...on Christmas! There is nothing better then a white Christmas! It feels awfully cozy sitting w/ your family, by the fire, on Christmas morning while looking outside at that sea of white!! LOVE IT! This year I was defiantly not disappointed!

I had Christmas Eve off so I slept in a bit & then got all the presents & my overnight stuff together. First, we went over to Will's (Nick's step-grandpa) house where we got together w/ some of Nick's family. Nick & I always do a gift exchange w/ Nicole, Grant, Amy, & Cory. Pretty much everyone got gift cards this year except for Amy! (We're very creative!! ;) Little G opened his presents from Nick & I as well. We got him some clothes so we had him open that first since that is pretty boring...you all remember how that goes! We also got him a movie & this thing called an Aquadoodle. All it is, is a mat & a pen that you fill w/ water. The water activates something in the mat allowing you to draw on it. It's pretty nice for a 2 year old...NO MESS! It was funny though because the mat has pictures of Thomas the Tank Engine on it & Little G thought he was getting Thomas! We were opening up the box & he was all excited. When I took out the mat & laid it on the floor he looked all confused. He kept saying, "Where's Thomas??" Then, he looked under the mat expecting to find him! It was hilarious! He finally realized what the mat was for when we started drawing on it. Such a nerd!!

(The "Move It" movie!! Madagascar!)

After Will's we went to church. I always love church service on Christmas Eve! At the end of the service the lights are turned off & everyone has a candle & sings Silent Night. It's one of my favorite parts of celebrating Christmas!

When church was over we were off to my mom's for some food! She made lots of yummy stuff; chicken salad sandwiches, little smokies, sticky balls (meatballs), a warm Mexican type tortilla chip dip, deviled eggs, cucumber sandwiches, etc... Everything was super good! We watched Home Alone while we ate & then it was time for Nick to open his gifts from my family. (Since we're not married yet & we don't have any kids he goes to his mom's on Christmas morning & I stay at mine.) He received many awesome gifts! He was especially excited about The Nightmare Before Christmas DVD! He's been wanting that forever! (I think I know where Little G gets his nerd-y-ness from! ;) Anyways, Nick soon headed for Hudson so my siblings, Ally, Bethany, & I stayed up talking & laughing at Brandon. He makes it easy to do!

(To many presents??...NEVER!!)

(Wait!! What?? Nick drinks?? Nooooo... :)

(His long wait has finally come to an end!)

(For the pool room!)

(He thinks he's "cute"! Wow!)

My Nana...who is a shop-a-holic but doesn't like to wrap...was upstairs trying to wrap the last of her gifts so I wandered up there about midnight to take over so that she could go to bed. It sounds crazy but it's an every year occurrence. The wrapping may not be the best but at least it's wrapped! If was see a gift that isn't quite up to par we just figure that it was a "2nd Shift" wrapping! :D I wrapped for about an hour while Anna wrote a letter to Santa. We know Santa isn't real so our goal now-a-days is to write something that we think would make mom...(cough) I mean Santa...laugh. I think we accomplished that this year! GO SADS! Santa Against Drunk Sleighing!! ;) BTW...Anna & I asked for Edward Cullen in a box...clothing optional...but "Santa" wrote that we would have to talk to cupid because that was his department!! (Shrug) At least we tried!!

We started opened presents about 9:00 Christmas morning. We enjoy taking it slow & seeing what everyone gets so we go one at a time starting w/ the youngest. It may take a while because we have SO many people but it's worth it! It's TRADITION!! We took our intermission about 11:00 to eat brunch. My mom makes Brunch Delight, cinnamon rolls, hash browns, & fruit! I look forward to Brunch Delight EVERY year! SO GOOD!

(Mom was the elf & Joe was Santa this year!)

(Santa was ready to rock & roll!!)

(We can only hope.)

(Mom always gets Auntie Charming Tails figurines every Christmas & throughout the year. She got her one this year that had something to do w/ strawberry jam so she had to get her some on Nana's jam to go w/ it! Do you like Auntie's hair accessories??)

(Fatty didn't want to wait for his gift!!)

(Dancin to the Christmas music!)

(Awwwwwww!)

We had the pleasure of having Ashton & Lexie w/ us this year! Steph had to work so she dropped them off about noon. I love watching the wee ones open their gifts! It makes me want children even more! They were both so good waiting for their turn. They had plenty to play w/ to keep them busy while they waited!

(Tickle Time!!)

(Look at those baby blues!)

(Silly! Silly!)

(He's ready to fix something!)

(She had to try the safety glasses too!)

(Joe got the ugly gift from me this year! I think he liked it.)

(First time I've given someone a leathal weapon for Christmas!)

(What a nerd!)

(Maybe I should have re-thought this present...oh well, to late now!! ;)

(Darwin got the ugly, re-gift present this year! I wonder who will get it next year??)

(YES!! I finally got my Twilight books!! Anna couldn't wait to borrow the last one so she had mom open my gift to take it out & read it & then they re-wrapped it!! At least I know I'm not the only addict!)

(Mom cried for a good 5-10 minutes after opening this one!! She said it was her favorite gift!!)

(Gene got some munchies!)

(They got ENGAGED Christmas night!! Soooo cute!!)

(She had to give her baby a bath!)

We got done opening presents about 4:00ish...I think. It was then time for the clean up! We try to stay organized but we always end up w/ a mess by the end of the day!

After I got all my stuff together I made my way over to Teresa & Gary's to open up my gifts form them. One word...SPOILED! I LOVED ALL my gifts but my favorite was a new leather jacket!! I've never had one before & I feel pretty special now that I do!! ;) Nick & Gary got jackets too so we're all stylin! Not only did I get some GREAT gifts but I also got some leftover Snicker Salad & Grasshopper Pie! (Drool...) Teresa got to open up a couple of her gifts as well. We can't forget the annual Texas Roadhouse gift card!! :D

(Don't we look sharp?!?)

(Fluffy!)

Nick had to go load up for work after leaving his mom's so I went home & planted myself on the coach to read New Moon! It was hard to pry myself away from the book to go to bed that night! It's an addiction!!

I had to work the day after Christmas...BOOOOOO!...& then my friends & I were suppose to go out that night for our Friends Christmas which we had originally planned to do on the 20th but couldn't because of a blizzard. Well, mother nature didn't disappoint yet again...the fog was so bad that we ended up canceling. :( I stayed home & read until Anna came over after work & we watched a movie. (What Happens In Vegas! One of my new movies from Christmas!! :) Anna went to bed after the movie but I stayed up & read some more until about 2:00AM. Like I said...addiction!!

The following day was our Christmas w/ Dad & Diane. I'll wait to talk about that in my next post. No one passed out on the garage stairs this time but some of us got pretty close!! ;)
